I wanted to give everyone a heads up. i got an email from AutoDesk saying that they are planning to stop support for EAGLE. what they’re doing is trying to force everyone to use FUSION 360, which I can understand from a business point of view, I guess. But what about the people that use the product? they forgot about us or just don’t care. Me, I’m moving to Altium Designer, and I suggest you all do the same. Altium is actually running a promotion right now. $995/year for EAGLE users looking to make a move: Go Altium | Altiumbut honestly, how would they know that you’re switching from EAGLE??? I’m going to jump on this while I can. Yep…I noticed a thing in Autodesk the other day that told me ‘free’ memberships would ‘remain free for one more year’ or something…so it’ll only be pay-to-play, looks like I just installed the free Eagle version 9.6.0 from the Autodesk web page. When starting Eagle the splash page references their (still in the) future plans for it: … ectronics/The sky might not be falling. Disclaimer: I haven’t yet downloaded Fusion 360."Effective June 7, 2026, Autodesk will no longer sell or support EAGLE. #1 I am a CNC router and 3D printing hobbyist.I have had an Alibre license of one sort or another since the days of $97 Alibre Design Standard. My current licenced version is 2018.2, although I have to admit to having almost never using it. For CNC router work I moved to Vectric Aspire. For 3D printing I have been using Fusion 360. Then came notice a week ago of severe limitations being put on Fusion 360 for Personal Use. From free to $495 per year (after $279 sale price).I see two options: Some form of AlibreSolidworks Student from EAA at $40 per year, with uncertainty of how long this option will existAs far as Alibre, I have three options:1) Use Alibre Professional 2018.22) Update to latest version3) Move to Alibre Atom (likely less expensive than a new Professional license) But since I've been out of Alibre-land for quite some time, I really don't know the pros/cons of these three options. Opinions much appreciated. #2 You can compare the 3 different versions of Alibre here (ignore if you already have): started out with Pro, but now have Expert as I needed sheetmetal and configurations.By the sounds of it, you may come right with Atom3D. You can always upgrade later. #3 Talk to Sales/Reseller to confirm current prices and any promotions that might help for renewal or new purchase. #4 Aspire has built in CAM. I assume Fusion does to. Find the sketch you want to modify in the browser tree, right-click it and select Show Dimension. All the dimensions in the sketch will now appear.
